An evergreen, purple leafed, medium shrub. The gracefully layered branches are laden during Spring and spasmodically throughout the year with pendulous, bright pink, spider-like flowers. Requires no pruning only removal of unwanted branches. Provide with moist, preferably acidic, soil with some added organic matter.

With foliage emerging red-purple and maturing to purple-green, the foliage on this Chinese witchhazel is always multicolored. An evergreen shrub, to 6-10' tall and wide, that produces pink, frilly flowers in late winter, early spring and occasionally all year. Best in full to part sun in rich, well-drained soil with consistent summer water and protection from cold winds. Can be nipped by especially cold winters, but easily recover from temperatures in the mid teens °F, often blooming later. Frost hardy in USDA zone 8.
