Pure white bark... outstanding!, this small (to 15-30') tree has handsome 3-lobed leaves that turn yellow in fall but its bark is show-stopping all year; the bark can?t tolerate full-sun. PSh/M
Most Striped Bark Maples feature green stems with thin white bands, but the bands of white are so thick and numerous on the 'Joe Witt' variant that the trunk and stems appear almost pure white from a distance. Trees are said to look like they are 'drawn out of chalk' against the sky during the winter because the trunks are so white. 'Joe Witt' is an excellent choice for a yard, street, or medium sized shade tree because it combines specimen plant quality with utility.

For a landscaping idea, try planting a bed around the base of 'Joe Witt' featuring dark colored evergreen perennials to contrast nicely against the white trunk. Probably the best variety that comes to mind is Plum Pudding Coral Bells.
This striped bark maple has green bark with white stripes. This fairly fast grower makes quite a show with its stems and yellow fall color.
Medium sized deciduous maple with a broad, vase-shaped structure at maturity. White and green striped bark is especially pronounced against a backdrop of dark evergreens. Full to part shade is needed for best bark and leaf color. Growth Rate fast, 12"+ annually
A teg. 'Joe Witt' is a Great Plant Pick; as far as I can tell, it is very similar to White Tigress.
A striking selection of the snake bark maple, named for the former Director of Seattle's Washinton Park Arboretum. Beautiful small tree to 25' (10' or so in 10 years) with startling white streaks in the pale bark. Pale yellow fall color. Sun to part shade with regular summer water. Frost hardy in USDA zone 7.
