Probably the subspecies frutescens, this form was collected from Dunsmuir Canyon in Oregon's Siskiyou Mountains. A handsome, small tree, to about 25', often multi-trunked, with spiney, oblong, evergreen leaves, dark green above and yellow-green beneath. Bark is silvery gray, smooth when young and darker and rougher with age. Full sun. Very summer drought tolerant and easily moved when large. Frost hardy in USDA zone 7.
