Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Perennial wallflower, new to us, shared by Britain's John Grimshaw and one of his favorites for its vibrant flowers all summer long, opening from blue-black buds and varying in color from reddish-purple to very dark red. Delicious! This cultivar reaches 2 ft tall, forming clumps to 3 ft wide. It is also known for its ability to flower through all kinds of dastardly weather, including this 2010/11 winter, a particularly harsh one in the United Kingdom. Full sun to dappled shade with summer water. Fairly long lived with well-drained soil; we recommend cuttings every so many years to rejuvenate the plant. Easily frost hardy in USDA zone 7 and even into zone 6.
