Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The striking large (to 6") leaves: glossy, sharply-toothed and wavy-edged, bright red when young, resemble Photinia and Osmanthus and Arbutus; a grand shrub (8-30' tall) for hedge or screening. S/M
From China, this handsome and useful big, bold, glossy leaved evergreen can be grown as a large shrub or trimmed as a small tree -- to 12-25' x 10-20'. Leaves, 4-8”, emerge light green and bronze tinged maturing to dark green and leathery with serrated margins and lighter undersides. Large clusters of bright red berries in autumn follow the early spring panicles of white flowers, lovely, though their aroma is not universally admired. Sun to part shade in well-drained soil. Drought tolerant but accepts and appreciates some summer water. USDA zone 6.
