Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Long cultivated in European, as well as American, gardens, this dry prairie wildflower produces its cheerful red ?sombreros? (red ?petals? droop from a tall central cone) on bushy 4' plants through summer. S/M-D/GDr
A fun member of the coneflower family which lights up in mid-summer to fall with many 2' flower spikes of mahogany-red, golden-edged petals surrounding large vertical cones. I guess they kind of look like miniature sombreros once you've had enough tequila. A great wildflower that can also be tamed. Good as a cut flower too. Full sun, drought tolerant, easy. Hardy to -30 °F. USDA zone 4.
