This distinct Sedum is a tough, attractive and very easy-going evergreen groundcover. Dark-green succulent leaves have a crimson margin in warm temperatures that turns intensely dark-red in cool weather. This creeper forms a dense 4-6" high by 24" wide mat which is especially pretty among paver stones or rockwork. It looks best of all when it is covered with its carmine-red flowers in late summer. Dragon's Blood Sedum has succulent green foliage edged in shades of wine contrast and contrasted with brilliant red flowers. Foliage turns red in fall. Dragon's Blood Sedum is an excellent ground cover or rock garden plant.
A very popular carpet sedum used as a small scale ground cover…a mere 2" tall carpet of purplish red foliage that fades to a red-green during the summer months performs in most soils, sun to part shade, dryish to average watered sites. Profuse dark red flowers in fall stand just above the leaves and add a whole new layer to this planting! Easy to grow, this living carpet deserves a little niche (at least) in every garden!
Zn 2. Red flowers. Bronze leaves. Evergreen.
Small Rosettes of Red and green aging to blood red. Stems will lengthen with age, spilling over a rock or container age. The rosettes can be trimmed off and used as mini red cabbage or as in our photo welcoming red markers to a Fairy Garden. Heat and drought resistant. Note: some water required now and then in hottest weather.
