The drumstick primrose has a single stem to 12” in early spring. The round flower head can be white to purple.
This unique primrose has stems to about eight inches topped with a perfect sphere of flowers. The colours can be white, pink, lavender or magenta depending on the strain or mix. Best in full to part sun with good soil moisture.
The drumstick primrose, which is a sadly unattractive name for a rather attractive species. Flowers are arranged neatly in a firm ball on the top of a maybe one foot stem. Like most primula, prefers cool, moist, shady conditions, but isn't one of the picky ones. Blooms very early, in April, and is always very welcome. Flower color is variable, but expect mostly shades of lavender. Zone 3
Sturdy, very popular primrose - Nice round globes of rose to lavender florets for many weeks in spring on 10" stems – Pretty and persistent foliage. Prefers part shade but takes full sun, most soils. Nice with other primulas, great cover for spring bulbs and they perform well in pots! Easy to grow, undemanding.
