Grows well with sun - bright shade and even moisture - occasional water. Does well in acidic, alkaline, clay, gritty, rich and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something seaside / salt tolerant.

    This shrub is marginally hardy here in the PNW, but worth trying in a protected spot! It's one of those plants…that once you see it, you have to have it! Disciplined growth, very globe shaped, to an eventual 6'. The evergreen leaves have a soft sheen, are 1" ovals and bronze-cocoa in summer, maroon in winter…a beautiful foliage shrub! Sun to light shade, well drained soil and moderate watering…would be happy near the coast.
