Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This spiny leafed beauty is a treasure we found at Heronswood in 1998. In 10 years it has reached a mere 6' tall and 4' wide (it gets very little summer water). The evergreen leaves have very nice golden highlights during the winter and the the new spring growth has pink tints, aging to golden and to a jade green by mid summer. Full sun to part shade, most soils, deer ignore this one at the nursery! Most hollies prefer ample summer moisture. This prickly pretty would be a great choice beneath your daughter's bedroom window!
