With its glossy, dark green leaves this euonymus is a great foundation plant in the landscape. The leaves form tight bunches along the branches giving it a very dense look. Its upright habit makes it ideal for hedging. Can tolerate a wide variety of soil types and salt spray.
Upright and vase-shaped in habit and highly geometric in nature with a strong, perceivable pattern, 'Greenspire' is dense with evergreen, slightly toothed, glossy, leathery leaves. Use it for a screen, a narrow spot, in an Asian garden, for a hedge, or in a formal garden. This is one versatile and handsome plant! 6 -9' tall x 3 -6' wide; robust. Minimum temperature: -10?F
A narrow columnar form developed at the National Arboretum a six foot tall plant will be only 6-8" wide, eventually it will become a 9' green pole; planted close these would make a wonderful hedge or screen.
Introduced by the National Arboretum, which is the plant equivalent of the Good Housekeeping Seal! A great plant for narrow spots. A very formal plants that perfect when you need height but don't have much space. Dark green leather like leaves. Some sources say Greenspire and Bekkomasaki, above, are one and the same, however, if you look at the photo of Greenspire on the link above at the National Arboretum, it clearly seems MUCH wider.
