30" evergreen clumper, arching leaves are olive green in the center and orange on the outer, weather exposed leaves, brightening in winter. A choice, upright variety for sun to half sun in well drained soils with summer moisture. This is a long lived species. We love it at the base of Tetrapanax and Melianthus…and combined with Phormium and Cordyline - also awesome spilling from a tall urn planter. A coppery gem that deserves more than one place in every garden!!
A large distinctive grass as it builds a trunk of dead roots which can raise the living tussock to 3 ft above ground giving the whole plant a height of 5 feet. Leaves are bright green with attractive bronze tones and 18" long, deeply grooved and strongly keeled. Will grow in wet ground as in its native habitat in New Zealand. Blooms mid spring thru midsummer. Sun to part shade, cold hardy to USDA zone 7.
A large, weeping sedge to 4' tall with olive green narrow foliage that bears orange or bronze colored highlights. This species often grows alongside waterways where its fine foliage spills down to float on the water's surface. Plant in shady, moist sites for best results. Hardy to 10 °F. New Zealand.
