Another clumping sedge, this one with exceptionally fine olive-green leaves to 2' long forms a dense mound 18-24" tall. The arching blades are outlined with golden-yellow and sparkle delightfully when backlit by the late afternoon sun. Small, inconspicuous flowers bloom on slender stems. Plant in full or part shade, in moist, well-drained soils. Plants will tolerate moderate sun in coastal gardens. Used massed beneath sycamores and oaks in combination with ferns and other shade-loving perennials. Hardy to 10 °F. Asia.
Slender, elegant, upright (Weight Watchers, could this be me?), very fine textured grass with a refined attitude. Wispy yet spiky, the thin blades are edged in yellow and are evergreen here in Zone 7 country. 10-12" tall and eventually as wide, this is a well mannered clumper that will grow in sun to part shade, most decent soils with summer moisture. Gorgeous in pots too! Deer proof.
