Nursery contributed plant descriptions

As with birds (though not for the same reason?!), the male of this 10-15' vine is the most colorful with leaves more vividly splashed with cream, pink and green (most true in a sunny spot and not generally on very young plants). S/M
The Arctic Beauty Kiwi is a male selection of Actinidia kolomikta that develops pink variegation over the leaves and is one of the most attractive hardy vines available in the nursery trade. The variegation usually develops by mid-summer and is the most intense when plants get morning sun and a little bit of afternoon shade. In cool, northern climates the afternoon shade is not necessary. Too much hot sun tends to turn the variegated sections lighter pink, towards white, by the end of the season and too much shade doesn't turn as much of the leaves pink. We tend to get the best color with about two hours of shade from 3pm to 5pm but sun the rest of the day. This variety will pollinate female Actinidia kolomikta kiwi varieties but will not pollinate the more common Actinidia arguta female plants. Female kiwis that are pollinated by this variety might develop some of the pink variegation but not nearly as intensely. The female plants produce sweet fruit about the size of a table grape.
This colourful ornamental kiwi will make an intriguingly lush garden backdrop. The spring leaves emerge purple and green then develop dramatic splashes of soft pink and cream. I thought someone had spilled paint on this plant when I first saw it! Long blooming, fragrant flowers. Attracts butterflies. Provide at least half a day of sun. The jury is out on whether or not it will set fruit, though certainly a male and female would be required.
With a name that sounds like a magical chant, this deciduous climbing vine extends the Kiwi's hardiness range into the Northern U.S. and Canada. Its 3 to 5 in. heart-shaped leaves are painted with creamy white, green and pink. In summer, it bears small white flowers without fruiting. Give this charmer well drained soil and watch it ramble up a pergola, fence or wall. Grant up to 2 to 3 years for the striking variegation to appear. Grows rapidly. Large Band.
Grown mostly for its beautiful foliage, this vine matures with leaves having green, creamy white and rosy pink markings on them. Our selection is Male and we propagate by cuttings to assure you of this. The male plants are generally considered to be more colorful. Prune as desired. Deciduous, Ornamental Vine. Asian species, 1855.
Easily controlled (don't be afraid!) 20'+ male kiwi vine with outstanding heart shaped, tri-color foliage of pink, green and white (often reverts temporarily to green while getting established). Tolerates some shade bust best leaf color in bright conditions. Enjoys well drained soil and moderate amounts of water; will (if he's in the mood) pollinate female kiwi vines (unless there are none, in which case, it will be celibate and perhaps even more colorful, while hoping to attract a 'shi-wi??). Try planting this with a pink flowered climbing rose…for a dynamic duo!
Who needs blooms when the leaves are as gorgeous as these of green and white, "dipped" in pink? A smart vine for a northern or eastern exposure, growing to 20 feet.
