In spring, pendent clusters of small, creamy-yellow bells adorn the plant. The small, flat leaves turn a kaleidoscope of orange, yellow, and red in autumn. Growth Habit: upright twiggy to 8-10'. Grow in filtered to full sun in acidic, well-drained soil.
The Chinese call the blossoms of this shrub Tsiau-Tsung-hoa or Suspended Bells. Botanically speaking, the true flowers are enclosed in an assemblage of clustered bracts, for a flower-within-a-flower appearance. Borne in clusters, each petal of these ivory green blooms is lightly veined with pink and ends in a delicately scalloped deep pink tip. The glossy, jade-colored foliage provides brilliant fall color. Enkianthus campanulatus is an elegant specimen to star in the shrubby border.
Upright shrub with heather-like flowers borne in clusters in April/May. Slender branches complement small leaves, giving it a delicate texture. Often used to add variety in the company of azaleas, Kalmia, and camellias, it prefers an acidic soil in partial shade.

These tiny, bell-shaped flowers in terminal clusters adorn this medium size shrub in late spring. In full sun the blooms will be yellow with red veins. Brilliant fall red and orange foliage color. This shrub will add excitement to your landscaping. Bright to medium green foliage in summer. Combines well with Rhododendrons. Dehiscent capsules, 3/4" long follow blooms. Prune late winter, early spring for shape. flaming foliage in red and orange tones. Easy in acid, well-drained soil but needs to be watered in dry spells to reach superb form. This erect-branched Japanese species will grow to 8-10' and invite comment after comment with its autumn foliage of every shade from yellow to red. Abundant, cup-shaped flowers of creamy-bronze with red veining appear in pendulous clusters and last for almost the entire month of May. A super shrub or small tree, easy to grow. Needs acid soil and full sun to partial shade. Combines well with rhododendrons.
