Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Our 50 year old plant is 12x18”. This ultimate dwarf shrub has tiny medium green leaves. Our plant grows in semi-shade.
Very dense, slow growing, eventually reaching 24-30 inches across after many years, but only 5-6 inches high. Leaves are 1/4 inch wide and 1/2 to 3/4 inch long. Great low border plant that will not hide your other shrubbery. Often sold as Buxus m. 'Kingsville', but they are two very different plants. Maybe some of the confusion is that 'Compacta' was originally released by Kingsville Nursery in Maryland. Whatever the source of confusion our dwarf boxwoods are TRUE to name and are described correctly.
Zones: 5-10. Kingsville is the best of the mini boxwoods. It is the tiniest leafed, slowest growing boxwood that we have found. In 10 years maybe 6 inches tall. Prefers morning sun or partial shade. Full sun in cool summer areas and West Coast. Use as a perfect mini hedge, or landscape tree in mini scenes. Good in troughs, Saikei tray scenes, Mame Bonsai. LiveScale© Choice-Mini Perfection! Photo shows older plant trimmed as mini tree. Shipping size small: 2-3 inches.
Buxus microphylla 'Kingsville' A perfect miniature ball of Japanese Boxwood. Leaves dark green on little 1/4 inch leaves. Very tight ball. Needs some shade in summer. Plant grows 1/2 inch a season. Sometimes flushes twice a season. Also used heavily for bonsai.
A very tiny little boxwood, with a half inch growth rate a year. Excellent for trough gardens. Qt. pots
Very slow-growing, compact bun with tiny leaves. Good for troughs, rock gardens, containers.
