Nursery contributed plant descriptions

This Sedum variety really does almost look like a moss groundcover but with bright yellow flowers and growing tips. This plant grows whenever the ground isn't frozen and for us is still growing strong in November and again in February, providing almost year-round gardening satisfaction. 'Goldmoss' Sedum is probably one of the best options for planting between rocks or raised stepping stones. And like many other Sedum varieties you can plant 'Goldmoss' at the top of a rock wall and it will form long curtains of foliage that hang down to the ground.

Propagating Ogon Sedum and Other Stonecrops
Stems root easily - in the fall clip off a five inch long section of stem and bury the end in loose soil leaving the growing tip facing straight up. Water right away and the plant should be rooted by spring! You can also root cuttings easily during the active growing season under mist, or divide clumps in mid spring.

Shipping Sedums
Sedum plants ship throughout the entire year. Because they tend to have many but smaller roots as opposed to one central root system like trees or shrubs have, Sedums are usually shipped rolled up in paper with the root matt in the middle. When you receive your plant, just place it in its new location with the roots down and the foliage up. Throw about an inch of loose compost or coarse sand over the plant and water - the coarse sand or compost will wash down to cover the roots and leave most of the foliage above ground. Water every few days for two weeks and your plant will be fully established. Much easier than digging a hole for a woody plant!
Creating a mass of low light green, almost conifer or moss-like foliage, Acre Sedum is topped by wide flat clusters of tiny brilliant yellow flowers in summer that attract smaller pollinators. An easy to grow and low and spreading groundcover well suited for dryer areas or well-drained, average moist soils and rarely exceeds 4" high. As a container plant you can use this sedum beneath larger succulents, as a low maintenance hanging basket, or even as an specimen plant on its own where the foliage can trail over the edges. In the garden it can be used to trail over walls, tucked away in crevices in walls, on green roof projects, between pavers though it will not tolerate foot traffic well, and as a groundcover. Oh, and it's great for Fairy gardens too! Acre Sedum, as we have always known it, may be more commonly known as Gold Moss Sedum or Golden Carpet Stonecrop. In some portions of the US this species has escaped and has become invasive please plant and grow this species responsibly.
A mounding perennial growing 3-4 inches tall ...golden yellow flowers for 5-6 weeks beginning in June.
