Rose cactus has spiny stems and fleshy pale green leaves with a bushy branched habit. Rose pink single flowers with yellow stamens in spring to summer. Sun and Min. temp 50 degrees. Also known as "Wax Rose" or "Rhodocactus Grandifolius". Quite unusual as, other than the spines, it does not look like a cactus.
2" deep purplish-pink double rose-like flowers with white stamens are born in summer on this unusual Cactus species. Rose Cactus is probably the least cactus-like Cactus with it's broad rounded semi-succulent foliage on a shrub-like plant. An easy and rewarding plant for indoors or out. Provide the Rose Cactus with a well-draining cactus like soil mix for the best results. Allow the soil to become moderately dry between waterings particularly when not in active growth in winter.
