Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Gorgeous silvery-blue, the narrow leaves of this native selection are also taller than Festuca glauca making it look softer and more graceful, creamy flowers on 2' stalks in late spring/early summer on this easy-care clump-forming grass to 18-24", deer and drought tolerant, the perfect choice for prairie, border or container, looks great when planted in masses. S-PSh/D
A recent hybrid introduction (perhaps idahoensis x ovina glauca) from the Berkeley Botanic Garden offering luminous blue foliage and a strong, durable habit. At 2' tall with an equal spread it is larger than most ovina glauca cultivars, and with its vivid icy-blue coloring, it is a bold presence in the garden that is difficult to ignore. It has also proven to be much longer lived than other F. glauca cultivars in our garden. Flowering stems appear in spring holding amber-colored heads 18? above the foliage. Use in mass for a stunning display. Hardy to 0F. Garden origin.
Wonderfully handsome, slate-blue grass, a hybrid between F. idahoensis and F. ovina-glauca selected by the Berkeley Botanic Garden. Grows in clumps to 15" wide, the thin, blue blades rising to 12-18" with brown spring flowers that rise 6" or so higher. Sun to part shade in any soil that isn't consistenly moist. Needs little summer water once established. Forst hardy to -30F, USDA zone 4.
