Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The only type in its genus (monotypic genus) although there are several variations and type localities. Also known as the Persian Carpet Flower for its intricate and ornate, relatively large flowers. Native to Socotra, the Arabian Peninsula and West Africa. Teeth-like spines up and down each branch; grows like a stapeliad, rambling across the ground. Protect from full, summer sun in the South but give it plenty of light to bloom. Rots easily in cool temperatures, especially if kept wet.
A flower that speaks of the immense possibilities in nature, this member of the Milkweed family brings to the gardener floral splendor beyond compare. Like a kaleidoscope, the exotic blooms are held in patterns of perfect symmetry. Modest in growth, it's easily maintained in a pot on a windowsill. During the summer, flowers form on the tips of the bristly trailing stems. A low-maintenance plant for any bright window, this arid land succulent tolerates extremes in dryness.
1/2" stems to 6"h., flowers 6" across. Rot-Prone, dry in winter
NEEDS WELL DRAINING SOIL. Light Shade. Intricately Patterned Maroon Blooms with Yellow Tips. Indoor/ Outdoor (Patio).
