Echinocereus reichenbachii var. baileyi plant details
Echinocereus reichenbachii var. baileyi is an evergreen cactus / succulent with blue foliage. In spring pink flowers emerge. Features fuzzy and glaucous texture. Attracts bees and beneficial insects making it an excellent addition to pollinator gardens. Grows well with sun - mostly shade and regular - occasional water. Drought tolerant once established. Prefers to be dry in winter. Does well in average, gritty and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something heat tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.
CHARACTERISTICS OF Echinocereus reichenbachii var. baileyi
The current consensus is that "albispina" isn't a variety, that there is simply a great deal of variability in spine coloration. OK. Let's just say that these plants have white spines! That should do it! And, given very good soil drainage, these are also quite hardy - enough to grow outside here in Portland.
