Cryptanthus 'Black Mystic' is an evergreen perennial bromeliad with black, blue, chocolate, green and variegated foliage. In spring and summer white flowers emerge. Features glaucous texture. Grows well with mostly sun - mostly shade and even moisture - regular water. Does well in average, gritty and well-drained soil. A good option if you're seeking something humidity tolerant and verticillium wilt resistant.

This is one of my favorite plants hands down. Cryptanthus "Black Mystic" is a terrestrial genus; the nearly flat rosettes do not hold water. The leaves are succulent, usually with wavy margins and teeth; they are often strongly banded with white, bronze, or pink. The white flowers appear in the center in this cultivar. Cryptanthus tolerate a temperature range from 34 to over 100F.
