Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Joan Mirov ceanothus is an evergreen groundcover that grows to about 4' tall and 10' wide. Rich dark blue flowers cover the shrub from March to May. Perfect for a large bank cover. A slope will aid its need for well drained soil. Plant in light soil and protect from the hot afternoon sun. It grows well in coastal areas and will need some shade more inland. It responds well to pruning and may be the most disease resistant ceanothus to date. Provides nectar for bees and butterflies. J'oan Mirov' is a naturally occurring hybrid of C. foliosus and C. griseus from Salt Point on the Sonoma County coast, that was selected and introduced by Roger Raiche
Small dark green leaves on scrabbly stems creates a perfect cover for low hillsides. Deep blue flower clusters completely cover the plant in spring. Hardy to 15° F.
