Awesome epiphyte from Brazil – an easy bromeliad for container culture or planted out - great for seasonal 'plunging' in the garden – ours have seen 18 degrees, no problem! High filtered shade – good drainage – very long lasting drooping flowers of magenta bracts with cornflower blue petals – long lived, no fuss, water in leaf wells! Try it, you'll like it!
A vigorous epiphyte from Brazil, Billbergia nutans is ideal for partially shady locations around the home or garden. The tough leaves have toothed edges, and flowers are borne on long stems. The striking pink bracts have blue and green blossoms and long yellow stamens. It usually blooms during March and April in our greenhouses, and the flowers last 6-8 weeks. Also called 'Friendship Plant" because it produces many offshoots, or young plants, to give to friends. Water frequently in the growing season.
