Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Narrow leaved form of the Grecian bay with willow-like evergreen leaves and a densely branched, more spreading canopy than the more upright species, to 20 ft tall and eventually 25 ft wide. Sun and well-drained soil is best with little summer water necessary once established. Has proven hardier than most selections and, though a warm sheltered spot is preferred, has survived temps nearing 0F, bottom of USDA zone 7, with little harm. We received this the Royal Horticultural Society garden at Wisley with the above name, a still current name there, but plants are also sold as L. nobilis 'Angustifolia.'
All the same wonderfully aromatic characteristics of the Bay Laurel, but with very elegant, narrow, willow-like foliage, this large 10-20' shrub/tree has a wonderful texture and can be shaped into topiary, kept small for container or it makes a fabulous kitchen garden or hedge plant; can be kept indoors overwinter in colder areas. S-PSh/M
This is the less common narrow leafed form of the true culinary Bay which not only brings excellent ornamental value but more hardiness than the typical form. These are cutting grown from Andy Van Hevelingen's plant in Newburg which was unscathed by single digits.
