Slow expanding mound of evergreen lustrous leaves of deep green; prostrate growth habit – 18” tall and about 4’ wide. Yellow green flower clusters in spring are accented with red (April May) later forming fuzzy green gooseberries. Easy to grow in light to moderate shade, decent soils, drought tolerant when established but appreciates summer irrigation...collected in China by Steve Hootman of the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden in Washington State.
