Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The fragrance of passion-flower from extra large and heavy flowers, white with a striking cobalt blue around the corolla... all from an extra-vigorous and hardy vine; by Roland Fischer in Germany. S/M PPAF PVR
Passiflora caerulea 'Clear Sky' is a a cross of the hardy blue passionflower with some of its hybrids. It has greater vigour and larger flowers with greater substance than the species. Grow hardy passionflowers in containers or planted in the ground. 'Clear Sky' should be hardy to zone 7 when you bury the stem 4-6 inches deep when planting.
Now this famous Passiflora species has just gotten better. 'Clear Sky' shows greater vigor than our standard caerulea and the flowers are an inch larger and much heavier in appearance. They carry a pristine clear light-blue color around the corolla. And, of course, it has the delightful fragrance of Passion Flowers. A tetraploid hybrid created by Roland Fischer of Hemer, Germany,
This is an excellent new hybrid that's a complex multiple cross of caerulea and some of its hybrids which has resulted in a larger, stronger plant with bigger, beefier flowers. We were suspicious of the claims until we saw it first hand. The improvement is substantial and will make a greater impact in a garden or house plant setting. The flowers are up to 5 inches across and it can bloom all summer. Fischer, Germany, 2001.
A certain innocent muscularity is displayed in these gently questing tendrils carrying flowers whose familiarity is overshadowed by their startling size. Intricate blue and white flowers, steeped in Christian symbolism, are twice the normal size. Average soil, good drainage, a vine of distinction.
