Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Profuse clusters of small white bell-flowers with a pink blush adorn this gray-green, dense, low shrub. In summer the flowers are followed by surprisingly large red berries. "Martha Ewan' is a selection coming from the Oregon coastal town of Manzanita! It's happy in full sun OR partial shade and doesn't mind a bit more water as long as the soil is very well-draining. 2' T x 8' W; evergreen. Minimum temperature: -5°F
Named by Paul and Greg from Xera Nursery. They found this low growing plant (2’x5’) on the gravesite of Martha Ewan. This hardy, attractive shrub will add pretty structure in any garden.
This superior form of our native hybrid manzanita was selected from the north Oregon Coast by Xera Plants. Its main features are a neat and compact appearance, exceptionally large fruit, and (apparently in our experience) excellent resistance to leaf spot. Dimensions listed by Xera are 30" tall by 5' wide, but it is likely to be slow-growing. It should handle a little shade and temperatures to at least 0°F.
A selection from the N Oregon coast near the town of Manzanita appropriately enough. Low growing to 3' and spreading wider with pink/white flowers followed by attractive berries. A very classy groundcover type shrub for a drier well-drained site and seldom available.
