A silky soft, dwarfy-dwarf Lambs Ears! NEW introduction from Jelitto Seeds in Germany – Low growing, ground covering perennial with furry silver leaves - Lilac plum flowers in 10" spikes in summer – Full sun, reasonable soil drainage (but tolerates worse) – Deer resistant, easy to grow, tough…but pettable (great for a child's garden!)
As soft as velvet, supple as suede, this truly dwarf Stachys has small fuzzy leaves so much like lamb's ears they could twitch at flies! The tantalizing foliage is the palest silver color and forms a low dense cushion for endearing spires of tiny, red-tinged lilac flowers. A recent Jelitto Seeds introduction, sun-loving 'Silky Fleece' easily mingles with many different plants and can be tucked into a rock garden or used as an edger, but will sulk in hot humid weather.
Cute as a button: tiny little leaves as soft ; velvety as a lamb's form a dense low (only 10" ) silver cushion topped by tiny spires of prpl-red" flowers in late summer; a gem for rock garden/pot/edging. S/M-D/GdDrain
An adorable little dwarf Stachys we salvaged out of maniac plant collector Marian Raitz's garden. Lilac-plum 10" flower spikes in midsummer are perfect arising from the soft cottony foliage. Low small-scale groundcover for full to half sun.
