Like a cat full-of-itself holds its tail straight up, these bright purple-to-fuchsia late summer-fall flower ?tails? are upright (some with a playful crook!) on this 18-24" clump-forming perennial with aromatic sage-green foliage. S/M-D
Like a veronica with mint like foliage, this species from Iran and the Caucasus will perform in warm, dry sites where veronicas will languish. 'Purple Tails' looks much like spiky veronicas in habit and flower. It forms a bushy clump of aromatic, rugose, green leaves topped by bright reddish purple flower spikes on reddish purple stems from early through midsummer. Photo courtesy of Walters Gardens.

Caucasus Germander. Native to Iran and an excellent plant for our Mediterranean climate. Forms a small bushy shrub with textured sage-green aromatic leaves and long kittentail flower spikes with rosy purple lowers opening from jade green buds. Good drainage, dryish and says "Piss Off Deer!"
