This rare newcomer from China is bound for greatness! This herbaceous perennial forms tight, neat 18” wide clumps of evergreen lance shaped foliage 3-6” tall…topped in late winter - early spring by upright spikes of very fragrant white flowers! ‘Ypsi’ enjoys a partly shaded exposure, regular moisture in draining soil (don’t overwater) and is deer, rabbit and slug/snail resistant. Z7 3” pot
This Chinese native has deep green long leaves on a 6”-12” plant. In spring it will have petty clusters of white flowers.
A little known plant which hasn't been in cultivation for long. Grows in evergreen rosettes with broad, leathery leaves. The bright-white flower wands are eye-catching no doubt; but the fragrance is out of this world. Very intensely sweet vanilla, yet pleasing and not overpowering. Best in moist but well drained soil. Possibly hardy to zone 6.
This is a small herbaceous perennial forming a basal rosette of evergreen, lily-like leaves. The unusual but quite showy cream- white flowers with striking bright blue anthers appear on ten inch, upright racemes in late winter to early spring and are highly fragrant. The flowers are followed by long-lasting reddish calyces that extend the floral display for many weeks. Quite striking with an incredible fragrance. I keep this in a container so that the plant can be brought indoors during the doldrums of winter. In this way the fragrance and delicate beauty of the flowers can be enjoyed to the fullest. Quite tolerant of normal garden conditions out of the full heat of the sun. From my own introduction of this fantastic plant. Native to SW China where it occurs on shaded, mossy cliffs.
A recent find from China, this evergreen perennial is in the Liliaceae family like Heloniopsis. The lanceolate pale green leaves, up to 5” long, make a rosette from which the flower stalk appears, extending from 5-18” as the flowers mature. The flower color changes from pale lilac to cream. Flowering season extends from March to May. Multiple leaf rosettes form to make a clump. Moist soil and partial shade.

Fairly recent introduction from China of this superb evergreen perennial. This makes a tidy rosette of evergreen leaves with very attractive white flowers in early spring which adds another layer of interest to the shade garden. Makes a nice clump. We say yip-suh-landra by the way.
