No, this is not a kinky sex-toy advertisement! 1’ clumps of divine, evergreens leaves have highly textural wavy, undulating leaf edges. Lovely as a potted specimen, nestled next to a path in the woodland garden or displayed in that crumbling stone wall…dappled shade in moist, organic soils. Rare, collector’ prize!
Zn 5. Thick wavey fronds. evergreen
Semi-upright, wavy, undulating strapped fronds are semi-erect. Plant in partial sun to full shade in well drained, moist soil, responds well to basic soil with lime added. Zones 5 to 9. Size: 12” to 24”. Evergreen.
Hart's tongue fern makes a beautiful specimen with light green undissected foliage that looks like tongues, hence the common name. The fronds are roughly oriented in a vase shape making this a great achitectural plant for the front of shade border which contrasts well in form with other shade perennials.
Choice selection of this European native evergreen fern which has variable wavy and rumpled leaf margins. This doesn't mind a bit of lime in the soil and is very happy growiing with bricks and will self-sow in the moss on shaded moist concrete or rock walls.
