Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Offering not only showy bright-pink flowers but also striking foliage opening a rich burgundy-wine before mellowing to purple-green for its summer dress and changing again to rich yellow-orange for fall, this 10' vase shaped, mildew-resistant tree is brilliant! S/M 'Whit III' PP#10319
The burgundy cloak of spring foliage matures to a dark purple-green in summer when it is topped by large clusters of rich pink flowers. A semi-dwarf tree that typically matures to 15'H x 8-10'W. Another beautiful introduction from Carl Whitcomb of Stillwater, Oklahoma. Pink Velour? is a registered trademark of Lacebark, Inc., an Oklahoma Corporation. Not only do Crape Myrtles provide those beautiful flower clusters in summer and elegant peeling bark on mature trunks but they also have excellent fall color ranging from yellows, oranges, reds, and often purples. Provide your Crape Myrtles with as much sun as possible and ample nutrients since they flower on new growth to ensure you'll get plenty of those colorful flowers throughout summer. In zone 6 Crape Myrtles are often grown as die-back perennials and so should remain much shorter when grown in these regions.Pink Velour has also been sold under the name of Royal Velvet. Lagerstroemia x 'Whit III' PP 10319
Selected as one of the "2003 Oklahoma Proven" and winner of the 2007 Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's "Gold Medal Plant Award". Pink Velour® has shrill pink flowers and distinct dark wine foliage which peaks in the spring. Large shrub or small tree of 12 feet or more. High mildew resistance. Very showy foliage provides wine landscape color before blooming.
Maybe the most outstanding foliage of any of the Crapemyrtles, the burgundy wine red foliage would be meritorious enough on its own but combined with the heavy display of late summer pink flowers than the decision is easy - we had to have it! To 10' high & deciduous.
