Understated perennial, basal clumps of attractive divided foliage, slowly expanding, give rise to 2' upright stems topped with dome shaped flowers composed of high resolution florets of red and rose in summer. Damp to wet well drained soils in part shade.
Zn 1. Wine red blooms. Dark green foliage.
A deeper colored form of Masterwort with blood red buds opening to wine pink flowers born on contrasting dark 24-28" stems in early-mid summer. Grow Astrantia in a moist but well drained soil in partial shade. Lovely as a cut flower.
Black stems rise from deep green foliage to reveal vivid purple-magenta fragrant blooms that are accented with a white base. Some say this is one of the prettiest astrantias available. Noted for its great vigour, its free-flowering nature from early to late summer, and for producing attractive large deep green leaves.
