Nursery contributed plant descriptions

These showy, hummer-attracting red and gold flowers bloom ALL!! summer on this compact (6-10') non-invasive native vine... a WONDERFUL new honeysuckle with mildew-resistant foliage for fence and trellis. PSh-S/M
A fantastic new cultivar of the native twining trumpet honeysuckle, absolutely covered in clusters of red trumpet-shaped blooms in spring and early summer. Hummingbirds, bees and butterflies all find it irresistible, and the handsome red fruit that forms later in the season is relished by birds. As it blooms primarily on the previous years growth, prune to shape after flowering. Noninvasive and mildew free.
A great selection of the native honeysuckle, Major Wheeler is abeautiful and disease-resistant climber with bountiful clusters of rich red flowers all summer. Hummingbirds adore it; you will, too! Tolerates shade, but flowers more in sun.
Major Wheeler' is one of the best selections of Lonicera sempervirens and stands out above all other red-flowered cultivars for clean foliage and pure flower power. This selection is covered in red trumpet flowers in late spring and keeps churning them out all summer long, especially with a post-bloom trim. The hummingbirds will find it from miles around.
Considered by many to be the best of the red flowered Coral Honeysuckles. Major Wheeler produces loads of large clusters of deep red 2" tubular flowers with yellow throats are held above the rich blue-green disease resistant foliage of this selection of the tame native Coral Honeysuckle. This easily grown evergreen vine is an excellent choice for hummingbirds and butterflies that may produce flowers basically year round with peak flowering in early to mid spring just as the Hummingbirds arrive. The native Coral Honeysuckle is not an aggressive vine, unlike the white and yellow flowered invasive Japanese Honeysuckle. This is an excellent twining vine for a fences, trellises, or latticework .
'Major Wheeler' is a floriferous selection of Trumpet Honeysuckle which has everything in its favor: vigor, handsome blue green foliage which resists mildew, drought tolerant once established, deer resistant, and hundreds of coral red tubular flowers in early summer. Add that is a magnet for hummingbirds and there is little else to say. Grows 8-10'.
Major Flowers I think. This red flowered East Coast native Honeysuckle blooms its tail off from late spring all through the summer especially if a light trim is given it after blooming slows. Twining to 10' or so and quite disease resistant. Tolerant of dry when established. Hummingbird Bacchanalia.
