Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Lilium superbum is an eastern North American lily that can grow to 3_7 feet tall with small to elaborate candelbras of 3-7 downward-facing blooms but sometimes with up to 40 flowers per stem on exceptionally happy plants. The flower colour is variable and can have shades of yellow, orange, and red all with dark spots. Grow in rich, evenly moist to wet soils from sun to part shade. Bulbs are stoloniferous forming impressive colonies in time. Easy to grow but good conditions are required for optimum growth.
The American turk's-cap lily is one of our most impressive natives, growing in moist meadows from Massachusetts to Indiana and Alabama. In 1665 John Rea called it the "Virginia Martagon," and in 1738 colonial botanist John Bartram sent it to his "brothers of the spade" in London where it caused a sensation. It's a challenge to grow, demanding well-drained, acid soil and plenty of moisture. With up to 40 graceful, spotted flowers on 5-8 foot stems, zones 4b-8S(10WC)
Large 6-8' pagoda of downward facing orange Lilies, with reflexed and spotted petals, up to 40 to a stem; it is similar to Lilium martagon. Please do not confuse this wonderful plant with those ugly orange wild daylilies.
Blooms: summer, orange, red and yellowt/ deciduous, bold & stunning Zone 4-9. 36"-96", Eastern US, part shade-sun, moist, well drained
A magnificent sight in l.summer with large candelabras of spotted, orange, reflexed flowers on 3-11' stems. Sun-PSh/Med-damp
Native Turk' Cap Lily which grows widely along the East Coast and into the Midwest. This has a Tiger Lily appearance and can have well over a dozen flowers per stem on old plants. Not shy, it has very long protruding stamens proudly displaying randy anthers. Damp soil.
