Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Persicaria 'Golden Arrow' is a robust, upright, clump-forming perennial with large, ovate to lance-shaped, pointed, prominently-veined, lime-green leaves and long-stalked spikes of bell-shaped, red flowers that last for ages from summer to early autumn. Although it is not too aggressive, this plant may spread in the garden.
Though many plants with yellow leaves prefer a shaded location, the golden foliage of this persicaria stands up to full sun as long as it is well watered in summer. Easy in part shade as well. Forming clumps of arrow shaped leaves to 2-3 ft tall and wide, plants create a bright spot in the garden even before their bright red flowers appear in summer often lasting into fall to the delight of hummingbirds and butterflies. Spreads by underground rhizomes as well as self-seeding so needs room to spread or careful monitoring. Frost hardy in USDA zone 4.
Crimson pink and chartreuse are two shades we have become fond of associating together. You'll find this coloring in 'Golden Arrow' with its 3' tall spikes of crimson tassels which and clumps of golden green heart shaped foliage. Foliage height is about a foot. The foliage is brightest if it gets 6 hours of sun or more. Blooms mid-summer through September for us.
Fun new selection of Persicaria with softly golden foliage which is a great backdrop for the 18"-24" flower stems bearing spikes of flowers the same color as the Pope's new ruby slippers. Easy and very hardy and thriving in a good moisture retentive soil.
