We call this ‘Pygmy Goats Beard’! Finely cut, ferny foliage create dense mounds 18-24” high and wide with new spring growth sparkling with coppery hues. Branched spikes of glowing white flowers on red stems dress things up in May; mature plants are covered with flowering spikes resembling fancy bird foliage. Easy to grow in sun to part shade in moist, rich soil. Good pollinator plant.
A creamy mist of flower plumes decorates this wonderful, shrubbier 2' x 2' Goat?s Beard, which, with its feathery foliage and showy creamy white, might resemble a guinea fowl surprised in the forest. PSh-Sh/M
Aruncus 'Guinea Fowl' is a compact and floriferous goat's beard with highly dissected, fern-like, crinkly leaves in dense mounds giving rise to red, branching stems tipped in horizontal spikes of bright white flowers. The flower effect does resemble the feathers of a bird hence the cultivar name. Mature plants can have over 100 flower stems. Easy to grow. Plant at the front or middle of the border in evenly moist, rich soils. Popular with a wide range of pollinators.
2'x2' fine, feathery clumps of scissored foliage send up a frothy mist of creamy plumes that can take on a slight pinkish cast. May bloom-time.Minimum temperature: -20° F
A very fun new compact Goats Beard from Europe. This makes very dense mounds of finely cut fern-like foliage with multiple flower stems bearing short wands of densely packed white flowers flowing horizontally like the plumage of some fanciful bird. Like a Guinea Fowl.
