This species of the Asian mayapple boasts large, lobed, umbrella-shaped, glossy green leaves that emerge with beautiful burgundy mottling like a closed umbrella pushing out of the soil. The flowers are pale pink and produce bulbous red orange fruits. Synonym: P. emodi. Mayapples are herbaceous members of the Barberry family that brings us Berberis and Mahonia.
Himalayan Mayapple 4" egg shaped coral red edible fruits, pink cup shaped flowers before the brown marbled leaves are fully developed, 1-2 year plants are still fairly small but grow quickly, although they never seem to form large colonies like our native species. ZONE 4

Like little folded umbrellas emerging from the earth, this exotic Asian Mayapple unfurls to display darkly marbled glossy green leaves and pale pink/ white to rose flowers in mid spring. Pendant red fruit are formed in late summer. Grow Asian Mayapple in a rich fertile soil where its rhizomes will form a lovely groundcover in a shade garden or woodland setting. 18" x 18".
Fantastic chocolate mottled new growth and topped by a single light pink bowl shaped flower. The leaves green up in summer and shade the very showy plum tomato fruit. Very intriguing in all stages of growth. Rich moist soil in shade to part shade.
A solitary white or pale pink cup-shaped flower above leaves of 3 or 5 lobes develops into a plum shaped red fruit by summer's end. 16 inches tall x 12 inches wide.
