Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The conspicuous dark-blue fruits of this 4-6' shrub, milder flavored than those of other honeysuckles, are used in jam and refreshing drinks; creamy white flowers and sea-green leaves are its pre-fruit attire. S/M
You’re probably asking yourself ‘what in the word is a honeyberry?’. Well, Honeyberry is known by many names including Haskap and Blue Honeysuckle, and indeed belongs to the honeysuckle family. However, unlike the more common honeysuckle bushes and vines we’re all familiar with, Honeyberry produces a high quality and edible fruit. Native to the cool temperate, northerly regions of the northern hemisphere, Honeyberry plants can be found in the wild in Canada, Japan, Poland, and Russia. This incredibly cold hardy fruiting bush grows to be no larger than 6 feet high and wide and is virtually maintenance-free. The fruit is much like a blueberry in size and quality, although Honeyberries tend to be more tart in flavor. This is one of the first fruits of the season, typically ripening in later Spring and as such makes a great addition to the edible landscape. Cold hardy to USDA zone 2a and above, or to -50 degrees Fahrenheit.
A member of the Honeysuckle family, 'Honeyberry" is grown for its blueberry-like fruit. Native to Russia, the small shrubs are hardy to zone 3 and are easy-to-grow with no pest or disease problems. The soft-grey-green, velvet-like foliage has a spreading habit and the shrubs usually reach 3' high and 4' wide. The tasty, easy-to-harvest fruit looks like elongated blueberries. The fruit may be eaten fresh or frozen to enjoy later. We are selling a set of 'Blue Moon' and 'Blue Pacific' since 2 varieties are needed for pollination. These are both late bloomers (usually flowering in May) with the fruit ripening in July and August.
This is a Bush Honeysuckle from Japan and Russia which produces edible fruit provided you have another clone for pollination. We have just this one but it is a start. Very hardy, this produces edible blue fruit not unlike blueberries. Drought tolerant and ornamental.
