Ornamental onions offer intriguing spherical or egg-shaped inflorescences comprised of hundreds of tiny flowers. Allium 'Blue Eddy' has really attractive mounds of twisted, linear, bluish foliage that seem to swirl and twirl and spin. The lilac pink, spherical flower heads appear in late summer and bloom into fall. A distinctive and interesting ornamental plant in both flower and foliage for the front of the border or rock gardens.
'Blue Eddy' ornamental onion is one of my favorites in the genus. Compact clumps of very twisted blue foliage resemble eddies of water in a river. Small round clusters of lavender flowers are held above the leaves in late summer. Great as an accent plant along the edge of a path or in a rock garden. This is another one that has been well-behaved and doesn't seed around.
Fun little onion with blue green leaves in flat curls on the ground. Small round heads of pink flowers adds to the whimsy. Great in the rock garden as this likes sun and good drainage. Not one of the weedy Alliums - this is well behaved.
