Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Delicate airy plants belie a tough as nails character. Slender grassy foliage anchors spikes of relaxed, loose orange red buds opening to bright yellow florets. This species is not as stiff in its flowering habit as other Kniphies. Small at 18” tall and 15” wide, this perennial often blooms and reblooms May > September. Sun, all but the worst soil, drought tolerant, deer resistant, establish and abandon! USDA Z7
Thought to be extinct in its native South African habitat, this charming, small kniphofia, to only 18" tall in clumps to 15" wide, has grassy, green foliage and tall stems of butter yellow flowers over a long season beginning with the first blooms in spring and continuing occasionally into September. Originally found in marshy grasslands, these enjoy moist soil -- so summer water in full sun. Frost hardy to 0 °F, USDA zone 7 with winter mulch for extra protection. Xanthorrhoeaceae
Now extinct in wild, produces slender pokers with coral buds sparsely arranged on the flowering stem, opening to flared tubular flowers of yellow for a long period. One of the earliest to bloom and re-blooms later again in the season.
This is a treasure among Pokers. A small statured species with big time bloom from South Africa introduced to the NW by Hedgerows Nursery in OR. This doesn't know the word quit and after a main heavy spring bloom keeps throwing up flowers spikes throughout the season.
