Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Lilium nepalense is a beautiful, rare lily with large, lime-green to yellow, bell-shaped, downward-facing, fragrant blooms with a dramatic deep burgundy throat and dark pollen. The stoloniferous bulb can travel underground but is not invasive. Widespread across the Himalayas. The trick to growing this plant treasure in our climate is to protect it from fall and winter wet - grow it outdoors under an overhang or in a well-drained bed below coniferous branches. Part shade, slightly acid soil.
The Nepal Lily - a rare species from the Himalayas. Unique coloration of greenish- yellow with a mahogany-red throat. Spreads by stolons. If you can find these anywhere else, they will be much more expensive. Prefers part shade in the border for its roots. In the south plant in a cool shady spot. These bulbs are ~10 cm around bulbs (not as large as some lilies, but full size). They are probably not as hardy as other Lilies, but I could be wrong--Himalayan plants can be suprisingly cold hardy. In any case I would recommend protecting from hard freezing with a thick layer of leaves.
Blooms: summer, green-yellow & purple-red, fragrant/ deciduous, stunning Zone 3-9. 3'-4', Nepal, part shade-sun, moist, well drained
Exquisite, huge, fragrant, softest yellow flowers with reflexed petals, suspended earthward with glowing deep burgundy throats on 3' stems in early summer. I first discovered this in the gardens at Heronswood 8 years ago…that's how long it has taken to propagate enough for sale!! A stoloniferous species that prefers sun or bright shade in cool, humus rich, well drained soil. From E. Nepal. One of our most prized plants! Almost too good to be true – breath taking!
One of our favorite Lilies and one we saw in Arunachal Pradesh near Bhutan growing in low scrub on a sunny hillside. This is a particularly good form with very large pendant yellow-green flowers with a chocolate maroon throat. Really pretty amazing. Creeps about underground.
