Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Compact, slow growing, twining, deciduous vine 10-20’; fragrant 2” honeysuckle flowers, May to Oct, from crimson buds are light pink with yellow throats. Best in part shade (sun on coast) in most soils with regular moisture; deer resistant.
A pretty climber, long connected with old cottage gardens (Hillier), this vigorous climbing, scrambling vine produces flowers as pretty as they are ?strongly and sweetly scented??cream inside, rich reddish-purple outside. S/M
A wonderfully fragrant hardy woodbine that is NOT invasive and nurtures hummingbirds with the long upward-curving nectar rich blossoms, and birds with the crimson berries in fall. A disease-free reliable and free-bloomer with masses of cherry red buds that open creamy white and age to butter yellow. Blooms generously in midsummer and with moderate deadheading, into fall. Makes an excellent screen or ground cover and looks great spilling over a wall or fence but also can stay relatively compact with some pruning after flowering.
Samuel Pepys called it the trumpet flower and wrote,
Lonicera periclymenum var. serotina Florida is a magnificent plant to behold, the rich reddish purple buds open to reveal creamy fragrant flowers that mature to a golden yellow. A very steady bloomer from midsummer until fall and a compact plant, too. Hardy and easy to grow.
Dark red-purple blooms, yellow inside, fade as they age. Narrow leaves. PROFUSE BLOOMER followed by red berries. Great specimen for cascading over walls or banks. Can also be used as a GROUNDCOVER. Hands down, Dutch Honeysuckles are the best for beauty and good behavior. Serotina blooms late & much longer than the others.

Late Dutch Honeysuckle — The fragrant flowers appear later than on other cultivars in the species. Flowers of a rich red purple on the outside, yellow on the inside, bloom from July through October.

This is a dynamite cultivar also called 'Florida' but names aside, the flowers totally rock. White and dark red fragrant flowers marry nicely with the rich purple-tinted foliage. We keep ours trimmed to an informal shrub but it can be a vigorous vine. Nice orange fruit.
