Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Desert Spoon is a favorite hardy xeric plant found throughout the mountains of southern and central Arizona and New Mexico. Its large, rounded rosettes of narrow blue leaves may reach 7' across, and are usually single but sometimes form offsets. It is often used in southwestern landscapes, but it actually grow larger in cooler climates with some moisture than it does in a hot place like Phoenix. In two places on my trip, I found some very large plants with trunks up to 4' tall. This is one such collection from west of Nogales. These plants should be hardy to 0 °F or below. DS.
