Makes a rounded clump of gray-green leaves. This high elevation native to Mexico makes a great container plant.
From, yes, the Huachuca Mountains in southern Arizona and into northern Sonora, this beautiful gray/blue century plant forms a classic 20-24” artichoke shape, eventually offsetting to form small colonies. From mid-elevation (5-7000 ft) this, though not the most frost hardy of the parryi clan, takes 10 to 15 °F in stride, mid to upper USDA zone 8 -- lower if very well drained. Full sun and summer water in Mediterranean areas.
A hardy and attractive species from AZ, NM and Mexico which handles temps down to 0 °F. This gets to just 2' high with gorgeous gray-blue leaves showing nice bud imprint patterns. Bloom stems 10-15' pink in bud opening yellow. Great drainage plus a good deer impaler.
This form of Agave parryi from the Huachuca Mountains of southern Arizona differs from the typical form in being larger overall, reaching 4' across with many more leaves per rosette. It often has a more dusky blue-grey color than the typical form. Unfortunately it's not quite as cold hardy, reaching its lower limit in the neighborhood of 5 °F.
