Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The highly esteemed Silverhill Seeds in South Africa has offered Kniphofia thompsonii var. snowdenii in the past, but I believe their plant has hybridized with another species, because the plants I have grown from their seed have much more compact inflorescences than the true species. Despite its confused identity, I think it is one of the most attractive Kniphofias, with bluish leaves and large, showy, neon-orange flowers. It seems to prefer moist soil. Root hardy to at least 0 °F.
