Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Do you have 12-15 sq ft to cover and only want one plant? How about an ugly retaining wall that could use a little razzle-dazzle spilling over it? This is your plant. Low, relatively fast growing and covered in nectar rich flowers. Problem Solved!
What does it mean? Does this plant trumpet the virtues of Australian Flora? Gardeners around the world are baffled. As the number of cool plants with stupid names continues to skyrocket at an astounding pace, I continue to grow some of the best ones, hoping that people will see past the overly obnoxious names. Thankfully the name has been shortened by many to just Grevillea 'Fanfare', something I feel that I can say out loud without embarrassment. And, fortunately, the virtues of this plant are great enough that you will soon forget how stupid the name is, once you have it in your garden. A vigorous groundcover rising only to about 4” and spreading indefinitely, the deeply lobed leaves first emerge bronzy and turn to a rich green. Deep red, toothbrush shaped flowers are produced over a long period in spring and summer. It will appreciate a hot, sunny spot with excellent drainage. It seems to tolerate heavier soils to some degree, as long as it is not too wet, and has full sun. Hardy to somewhere around 10 to 15 °F.
