Nursery contributed plant descriptions

The sweet acorns of this 60' oak are eagerly consumed by deer, quail and other creatures; glossy, shallowly-lobed leaves form a rounded crown. S/M-GDr
For many gardeners, Emory oak might be considered an improvement over the Southern Live Oak, Q. virginiana: it's hardier to cold, far more drought tolerant, and doesn't get as huge. It's a slightly different creature, however; since it has a distinctly horizontal tiered branching habit. This very rugged looking evergreen tree is certain to add character to any garden. Like the other Southwestern oaks, it is well adapted to the Pacific Northwest requiring a minimum of care once established. Hardy to -10 °F. 40' with equal spread, tiered branching habit, nice deep green leaves.
