Nursery contributed plant descriptions

Vigorous evergreen tree to 50'. Should handle heat well. Australia. Little is known about this rare tree which comes from a very restricted area of Australia. It has beautiful purple new growth and makes an excellent ornamental tree to 50' or more, with weeping mature foliage. Not closely related to any other species, it looks like something that ought to be cold tender but already I have had the chance to observe it perform very well in the November 2006 freeze, which it endured without significant damage. It should be hardy to 10 °F, perhaps 5 °F, and heat-tolerant enough to be worth a trial in the South.
